I have so many beloved memories with my father-in-law, besides being completely in awe of his relationship with his sons and grandchildren... and his adoration of his soulmate, Kay.
My grandfathers were deceased long before I arrived in the world, so I didn't know what to expect. Just like their father, John was my sons' first friend and best friend too. Last week, the boys were chasing lizards with their grandpa in his back yard. (Max told me that today.)
I'm going to miss John’s stories and laughter. He loved to laugh... and his stories, especially, the ones when he would speak from the "side of his mouth"...those were my favorite.
While I wasn’t as close as everyone else was to him... oh, did I love him. It's why I did my thesis project on his leadership.
While he was Dr. John Genasci on paper, he was “just” John (or Coach or Mr. Genasci) to the world. A humble and generous man.
