There are a few special people in this world who are so wise, kind, giving, and patient that just being around them makes you a better person. Dr.

John Genasci was one of those people, and he will be greatly missed.
Dr. Genasci was my principal in the 7th and 8th grade at Sparks Middle School. I think Sparks Middle had close to a 1,000 students at the time, and I can only imagine how busy he was on a day-to-day basis, but Dr. Genasci always made time to ask me how I was doing academically, ask about my family, and talk about our basketball season. I could tell then that he was rooting for me and that he believed in me. That meant so much. Later, when I decided to run for office, Dr. Genasci was there again to support me and root for me. And again, knowing that he believed in me meant so much.
It was only recently that I learned that when he was the principal at Procter T. Hug High in the 1980’s that he took out a second mortgage on his home to help pay for the lights at the Hug Football field. I wasn’t surprised. That’s just the type of man he was. My heart goes out to his family, but I hope they can find some comfort in knowing that he meant so much to so many. #Gracias For Everything!
