John Genasci was a very special friend who added laughter and the love
of living to many of our lives. My husband, Dick, and I and our family
got to know him and Kay and their boys in Kinshasa, Zaire, where we
worked as teachers at the American School of Kinshasa. John was our
principal and had hired us, and he and Kay helped make this an exciting
and outstanding experience. Our families have been good friends ever
since, enjoying times together and sharing our lives. I know how
outstanding John was in so many ways, as an educator, a husband and
father and grandfather, as a friend to young and old who needed help or
encouragement. Add to this his warmth and kindness and deep thinking,
all stashed under that great smile and the ability to help make life fun
while being meaningful. I know if Dick were here, he would join me in
saying we will truly miss John, and our hearts go out to Kay and their
family.
